Cashless On Paper, Cash On The Table! Bhopal Private Hospitals Openly Flouting Cashless Insurance Rules By Demanding Upfront Payments

Despite cashless health insurance norms, several private hospitals in Bhopal are reportedly demanding security deposits or full advance payments from patients. While rules mandate direct insurer-hospital settlement, patients were asked for ₹5,000–₹10,000 deposits or upfront costs. Only one hospital followed cashless norms fully. Insurance officials say such practices violate IRDAI guidelines.
