Health experts have called on the government to introduce tax-funded Universal Health Care with a basic package for all citizens, raise public health spending to 2.5-5 percent of GDP, strengthen government hospitals, and expand Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY to cover outpatient care in the upcoming Union Budget 2026. They also demanded GST exemptions on lifesaving equipment, vaccines, and consumables.
