Experts Warn About Risks and Safer Alternatives

Published on: March 24, 2026, 1 a.m. | Source: The Indian Express

Shark Tank India’s former host Rahul Dua and his wife Nidhi Tyagi recently revealed they plan to do a 24-hour water fast twice a month starting 2026, aiming to detox and reset their metabolism. Experts caution that frequent water fasting can strain the body, leading to muscle breakdown, nutrient deficiencies, electrolyte imbalances, low blood sugar, dizziness, and fatigue, and is particularly risky for people with medical conditions or those pregnant or breastfeeding. Doctors recommend safer alternatives like time-restricted eating, intermittent fasting under supervision, balanced diets, portion control, hydration, regular exercise, and adequate sleep to support the body’s natural detox processes without compromising health.
