ICMR considers these 5 methods of cooking better and safer than frying; here's what science says

When it comes to cooking at home, frying is often looked at as an easy option for making desi Indian dishes, as it takes less time compared to sautéing, grilling, or baking. But, have you ever thought how good it is for your health? Keeping the seriousness of the issue in mind, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Institute of Nutrition discussed the subject in its Dietary Guidelines for Indians report 2024. Under the Guideline 7, which focused on the moderate use of oils/fats, experts talked in detail about why it is important to choose a variety of oil seeds, nuts, and legumes to meet daily needs of fat and essential fatty acids (EFA). Under the same guideline, supporting the moderate intake of oil and fats, the experts, mentioned five other cooking methods that people should prefer over frying. Scroll down to read the details.
