Nationwide trial of mobile-based disaster alert systems going on; citizens ignore test message: DoT

India is currently testing a new mobile-based disaster alert system. Citizens may receive test messages on their phones. These alerts are part of a nationwide trial by the Department of Telecommunications and the National Disaster Management Authority. The system uses Cell Broadcast technology for rapid dissemination of critical information.
