India’s edible oil demand is increasing and is estimated to reach around 57 million tonnes by 2047, from 24.8 million tonnes in 2023. Palm oil consumption currently accounts for nearly 38 per cent of the total vegetable oil consumption, writes Sumit Roy, Assistant General Manager - Palm Oil Programme at Solidaridad Asia.
